Cookie Policy
Small files, short list.
Our marketing site is intentionally light on tracking. This page names every cookie and similar technology in use across citebound.com and the client portal — what it does, who sets it, how long it lasts, and the few we deliberately leave out.
This page explains how Citebound LLC uses cookies and similar technologies on citebound.com and the client portal. The headline: our marketing site is intentionally light on tracking — we use no advertising, retargeting, or social-media cookies, and our analytics tool is cookieless. Detail below.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. The browser sends it back on later requests so the site can remember something — a session, a preference, an opt-out. Throughout this page, "cookie" also covers similar technologies like local storage, web beacons (tracking pixels in emails), and session tokens.
Cookies set by citebound.com are first-party. Cookies set by another domain whose code is embedded in our pages are third-party. We name the third party in the inventory below.
2. Why we use them
We use cookies only for four narrow jobs: keeping you signed in to the client portal, protecting forms against cross-site request forgery, remembering preferences (theme, language, your consent choice), and bot mitigation at the edge.
We do not use cookies to run advertising, retarget you, build marketing profiles, share with social networks, or track you across other websites.
3. The cookies we set
Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| citebound.com | Signed-in session for the client portal | Session |
| citebound.com | Cross-site request forgery protection | Session |
| citebound.com | Remembers your cookie consent choice | 12 months |
| citebound.com | Remembers your language preference | 12 months |
| citebound.com | Display preferences in the portal (theme, density) | 12 months |
| Cloudflare (third-party) | Bot mitigation | 30 minutes |
All of the above are strictly necessary under EU/UK ePrivacy rules, which means they do not require consent — but we describe them so you know they exist.
For analytics we use Plausible, which is cookieless by design and stores nothing on your device. For marketing emails, Postmark includes an open/click tracking pixel; you can disable image loading in your email client to prevent it from firing.
4. What we don't use
For absolute clarity, the following are not present on citebound.com or the client portal: Google Analytics or Tag Manager, Google Ads, Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, TikTok or X advertising pixels, Hotjar, FullStory, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Segment, or any retargeting tag.
If we ever add a non-essential cookie or third-party tracker, we will update this policy at least 30 days before the change takes effect and require your consent before the technology loads.
5. Consent and Global Privacy Control
Because we use no analytics or marketing cookies on the marketing site, we do not show a consent banner — there is nothing to consent to. If we add anything non-essential in future, we will introduce a proper banner before loading it.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out for any optional storage. We do not act on the legacy "Do Not Track" header, which browser vendors are deprecating in favour of GPC.
6. Managing cookies yourself
You can view, accept, refuse, and delete cookies from your browser's privacy settings. Every major browser supports this — look under Settings → Privacy or Settings → Cookies. You can also enable Global Privacy Control to send an opt-out signal automatically.
If you block strictly necessary cookies, you will not be able to sign in to the client portal and forms may fail. Blocking optional cookies has no functional effect on our sites today, because we do not use any.
7. Changes and contact
We will update this policy as the sites and applicable laws evolve. Material changes — adding a cookie, adding a third-party tool, changing the consent model — are posted at least 30 days before they take effect, with a banner on the site during the notice window.
